He is not here…

It has been the longest time coming, but I’ve finally gotten around to making the new site!

Thank you so much to everyone for your support on here, but I’m officially leaving the LN/WN fanslation world.

For those who still want to follow along as I continue translating novels, come find me here: taishitranslations.com (I’m still doing Secret Org!)

To all the amazing people still doing fanslations, I wish you all the best! May the wonder of Japanese ln/wns reach the rest of the world far and wide!

Officially looking for people to pick up my series

Hi everyone. As y’all probably already know, I can’t continue this website anymore.

Thank you to everyone who helped to be a part of the great community on here! There’s still a chance I might see you guys again soon, we’ll see.

But for now, I am opening the gates for those who want to pick up a series, any series, that I was doing. BUT I want you to send me an email with the next chapter in the series that you want to pick up before Wednesday, 10 October 10am GMT+8. I will announce on here who I’ll be entrusting to carry on the torch on Sunday 14 October. As long as you submit it on time, it would not be first come first serve.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Bad News (Sorry guys)

Hi there guys. Major announcement (obviously).

Firstly, I’m really sorry, I was out of commission for about a week or so. It’s my bad, and I feel absolutely terrible about it. Let me explain what happened.

I’ll start by reiterating that I really do love spreading the joy of lightening up someone’s day with a new chapter from an awesome series.

But due to a certain situation on my side (I’m not sure if I’m allowed to reveal it yet or not), I am going to have to give up this site, because I can no longer do anything that might become a legal liability. This past week was me trying really hard to make it work, and then me being depressed when nothing worked. The only way I would be able to continue is if the authors gave me permission, but upon contacting them, all of them said their contracts with their Japanese publishers included all the rights for foreign translations (even Secret Org, whose publication isn’t even publicly announced yet), so they couldn’t say yes.

Rejection after rejection after rejection. Boy was I depressed.

It makes it worse that I’d only just recently started the new series, started looking into the Twitch, started Discord, started Patreon. It kinda felt like this is where things are going to take off or something, and then BAM.

I kept thinking that I’ll tell you guys tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, until somewhere along the way it became that I have to apologize for being MIA, and the guilt just made me more and more fearful. I couldn’t even bring myself to read those @’s that you guys were awesome enough to send me on Discord (I am really touched for them, but I’m so sorry). But you wonderful people have a right to closure, and I really don’t want to ghost on you guys (again), so I’ve gathered myself back together, and here we are.

So, this is what’s going to happen from here on.

I’m going to do 1 more chapter of OreMegane and MotoKimama, just to get them to a nice, round 10 chapters total. I’ll also do just 1 more chapter of Secret Org to finish off the prologue.

Releases will be today, tomorrow, then day after. 10am GMT+8, as usual.

After that, I welcome anyone to pick up any of the projects I was working on. That includes Shadows. (Though hold off on that until I confirm that I’m dropping it first. I’ll update y’all when I know for sure. Send me an email if you want to pick any of them up.)

Of course, I will also be shutting down my Patreon (gotta make sure to do it before the next billing). Send me an email if you want a refund, I’ll understand.

Thank you guys for being on this wonderful ride together. We might see each other again at a later date, depending on how the situation on my side turns out. Until then, stay in the shadows. All hail!

The end is where we start from.”

OK, so that was my attempt at making this easier. If not easier, at least classier.

There is bad news, then there is good news.

As  Pope Lkjfdsay1 and Origin Devourer have prophesied repeatedly, we have just finished the latest completed volume of To Be a Power in the Shadows, and thus are now entering the ‘hiatus apocalypse.’ We will be going on hiatus for that series until the author finishes the next volume. Then we will resume, but at a pace of a chapter every other day, to match the author’s pace.

The bad news continues. I’m really sorry to those who enjoyed it, but I am officially dropping Megami Buchigire. What made the series fun was the summonings and reverse summonings, but the story has reached a point where the summonings have stopped (the author can’t juggle any more new characters). It’s running off of just tsukkomis and random trivia, which is not worth the hours (sometimes) that I have to put in to research the memes and correct the oftentimes incorrect or incomplete trivia. If you are a translator who wants to pick it up, be my guest, I’ll even link to your site if you send me an email or PM on Discord.

So now, onto the good news. I will be starting THREE new series! All of them are related to powers in shadows (lol), but in very different ways. This will be the release schedule:

Mon, Wed, Fri – Series A (come for the glasses, stay for the droll inner monologue)
Tue, Thu, Sat – Series B (pretty much just power tripping IRL from the shadows)
Sun – Series C (just imagine if Shadow built Shadow Garden on purpose)

All releases will be at 10am GMT+8 per usual.

So yea, hope you guys all enjoy. Look forward to them!

(I couldn’t quite decide, so ended up doing them all. Tehepero⭐)

The stream is up on YT

For those of you who missed the stream but would like to check it out, it’s now on Youtube. It might be a bit dry, and the first minute is crazy cringe, but otherwise, hope you enjoy/learn something from it.

The Great Revelation of 100

Hear ye, hear ye, for Tenshi-sama has given unto us a Great Revelation!

Alright, putting aside the role playing for a bit here. (This post will be long, so buckle up.)

Taking opportunity of reaching chapter 100 on To Be a Power in the Shadows!, I feel like it’s an appropriate time to introduce some big changes on here.

(I am really, really uncertain about it and really, really hoping that this isn’t a mistake and that I’m not over-reaching. All fingers and all toes crossed. Oh man, my nerves.)

Firstly, I am adding a Discord channel. Seeing how much fun you guys have in the comments (which I absolutely love, btw), I thought maybe it would be a good idea to have a more permanent place for all the speculating and discussing (and gif-ing and worshiping). Here’s the invite, I’ve also posted it on the side of the homepage as well. (I couldn’t get the Discord pre-made widget to work cus I’m not particularly bright at coding and WordPress.com doesn’t allow the ‘iframe’ tag, wtv that means.) Sorry to EROgeX~ and Lkjfdsay1 yesterday if I came across a little bit mean, there was only 1 day to go until I’m launching one personally! Thanks for bringing it up, and here you go =D

Secondly, I am going to do a test stream on Twitch this  Sunday, 02 Sep 10:30am GMT+8 (exactly 2 days after this announcement post).  I will be translating a chapter live (the next chapter, actually, after that day’s release). The point is I will be going through the text sentence by sentence, reading the Japanese out loud, then explaining the nuances and considerations behind my English word choice as I translate it. If I do it well, I’m hoping it would prove helpful and perhaps even educational for those of you who are learning Japanese or may be thinking about taking up translating yourself. Depending on how it goes, I might continue it regularly. But for now, I only have the one session planned, so please do come and let’s hang out together!

Lastly, and this is the most major part (and the part I am feeling suuuper unsure about) is that I have set up a Patreon page. I’ve been saying all along how I’m only doing this as a hobby and that I don’t intend to take money for it, but real life sucks and I can really do with some support for what I love doing. And I’d also love to do more of what I love doing. So yea…… if you ever feel like it, drop me a buck or two on here, I’d love you all the more for it! But it’s entirely optional, I’ll be here translating regardless. (The way to make a one-time donation is to cancel your membership after the first billing, which I’ve set to the beginning of each month. Just in case you’re leery of commitment, like me. I’d understand.)

Power in the Shadows shall resume shortly!

Great news!

As many people have been nice enough to inform me, Volume 5 of To Be a Power in the Shadows! has officially been finished.

So we will resume starting next Monday! Upload time will be same as before, 10am GMT+8 sharp, one chapter per day. Downloads will be made available on Sundays now, not Saturdays.

Looking forward to seeing all you wonderful people again!

I will attempt one chapter of Megami and one chapter of Shadows everyday, but I’ll probably fail. In that case, I will prioritize Shadows. Sincere apologies to those who visit my site only for Megami.

Suggestions for next novel

Edit on Tues, 13 June:

Thank you very much everyone for all your wonderful suggestions. Took me quite a while to go through them all, and quite a few I did add to my personal reading list haha.

I have decided on the next series to translate, and hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!

So guys, as most of you already know (judging from the comments and those who keep an eye on NU), we are super close to catching up to the raws with To Be a Power in the Shadows! (we are at chapter 80, and the raw is at chapter 82 as of last night).

Originally I had expected the volume to end at chapter 80, as all previous volumes have been 20 chapters, give or take 1 or 2, but it seems that’s not happening for this volume, for better or for worse. There goes my hope for a clean cut to hiatus.

Either way, since the releases will slow down (the raws come out at a pace of 1 chapter every other day, so I’ll try to match that), I’m open to suggestions for a new novel to pick up. So anyone see any interesting new novel lately that you want translated? Try to keep the genre similar to Shadows, so action and comedy are must-haves. (One that no other translator has picked up of course, I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes.)

(I’m sorry, but I don’t really feel like taking back up any of the old series that I was working on.)

Chapter 105 (start of new volume!) is up – and scheduling update

So, after trying it out this weekend, I’ve realized that 5 chapters is my limit for a weekend. Sorry about getting your hopes up. So the new schedule is a chapter every day during the week days, then no releases on Saturdays and Sundays.

Oh, but on Saturday 10am GMT+8 I’ll release all the PDF/ePUB downloads of that previous week’s releases, so those of you who prefer those can look out for that.

Here’s today’s release: https://tenshihonyakusha.wordpress.com/trpg/trpg-ch-103/

It’s the start of a new volume! Start getting geared up!

Oh, and for those of you who are sharp-eyed enough to notice that I’ve skipped a chapter number, it’s because chapter 104 was supposed to be a character review chapter. It’s basically just a brief summary on all the main characters who’ve shown up so far. So I’m leaving it on the back burner, maybe I’ll work on it during Chinese New Year when I have more free time.

Also a heads up warning: I just learned that Final Fantasy XV is being released on the PC on March 6. There is a very real chance that I might disappear when that time comes. I hope I would have enough self control to continue this while playing FF15, but, well, I have a track record already ^^” We’ll see, we’ll see.
